Charleston Natural Hair Expo – June 1st, 2012

I’m so excited to attend the Charleston Natural Hair Expo 2012 to be held in Mt. Pleasant, SC on Saturday, June 1st.

If you don’t already know, I am branching out into a new area…EVENT PLANNING.  I can honestly say it’s not anything I thought I’d be doing or tried to do but as the song says “Where he leads me I will follow”.  So, as a venture out I realize the importance of having a team to fully develop the vision God has given me.  Below is what I posted on my Facebook status today and I’m posting here as well:

Moni’s Sweet World – My Jewelry

I’ve kind of moved my way out of making jewelry on a regular basis and into event planning for natural hair events but, jewelry-making is still something I love to do. 

I was contacted a couple months ago by Sharon Davis of S.Davis Makeup Artistry about using some of my earrings as inspiration for a photo shoot with Creative Silence so I jumped at this golden opportunity. 

Not only did Sharon use my earrings but I was also excited to have the opportunity to attend the photoshoot to see everyone in action.  Sharon is an amazing makeup artist and along with the phenomenal hair stylist, the genius of Chris Charles, and the beauty of the models…the end result was anything less than magical.

Kinks, Curls, and Cupcakes – Our First Event

This past weekend was phenomenal…I got a chance to meet some great women with beautiful hair and although it was tiring it was well worth it.  We had a ball at Kinks, Curls, and Cupcakes and I wanted to share with you some pictures of last Friday’s event.  The official photographer was T & T Productions out of Raleigh, NC (HIGHLY recommend them) and we just had a great time.  Here are some pictures of the evening, attendees, and Felicia mixing it up with the crowd.

I know I’m not the only one that is blown away that Bey’s little sister with the braids and baggy jeans is now a Natural Hair Icon…flat out, Solange is FLLLYYYY!!!!!

Her sense of style (in my humble opinion) is both fashion forward and risky.  Her confidence and maturity come out right at the tips of her kinky curly strands and I must say she is ALL THAT!!!!

Everything about Chrisette screams NATURAL DIVA…from her style to her sultry voice she seems to have gone from girl to WOMAN in front of our eyes.  A friend of mine used to be in love with Chrisette and was actually turned off by her new close cut natural but for all of us in the natural hair community, we understand how her step into this world was a BIG risk for her.  I’m sure veering away from the norm and what was likely expected of her raised some eyebrows but c’mon, you can’t deny her beauty!
